How Does Apple CarPlay Work?

As an owner of a Honda, you expect nothing less than innovative, sophisticated technology. Honda vehicles are consistently paving the way to a more dynamic driving experience. One such way is through the introduction of Apple CarPlay into Honda vehicles.

The 2016 Honda Civic, recently named “North American Car of the Year,” was the first compact car in the world to feature the application of Apple CarPlay. It’s an incredible advancement that we at Gillman Honda San Benito think will drastically improve the connection between your smartphone, your car and the world around you.

Many of our customers ask us “What is Apple CarPlay?” and “How Does Apple CarPlay work?”

Our team at Gillman Honda San Benito wanted to walk you through Apple CarPlay in Honda and hopefully answer some of those questions for you.

CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5 and later Apple smartphones.

While not yet available in all cars, we’re thrilled to have CarPlay available in both the 2016 Accord and 2016 Civic in San Benito and Harlingen, TX.

To connect your smartphone with your Honda, plug it into the dash with your Apple cable. Once it’s detected, the CarPlay icon and compatible apps with appear automatically.

Available apps include iHeartRadio, Spotify and more. Third-party apps will be added as deemed safe and appropriate for in-car use.

Siri is also available for use to give directions, play music and answer other driving related questions. Siri can also aid with making calls, returning missed calls and listening to voicemail as well as sending, reading and replying to text messages.
